Elijah Alive

I thank you for all your comments and your love from the bottom of my blackened, stunted, and shriveled little heart.

I'm a teensy bit spent.

So, for lack of words, profound or otherwise, I share with you this photo memory, which makes me giggle:

Elijah's first taste of cereal.
Five months old.

  1. I am literally on my knees...
Bless your heart, Bless Elijahs heart...
Your heart is neither blackened, or stunted-it is very simply broken....irretrievably broken...as only a mama could know...as only "you" could know.
I hold you close to my heart tonight....

  3. It is amazing how you find the strength to remember Elijah in so many ways. I cried for you when I read yesterday's post.

He was a remarkable baby and you are a remarkable mom.

  11. Hi, I would be a total stranger from the internet.

I found your blog in December. I was in the hospital for preterm labor, and when I did a Google search for it while I was stuck on bedrest, I got your blog. I've been reading it ever since, trying to work up the nerve to comment.

I had my daughter, my first baby, on Feb. 8th, and she looks so much like your precious Elijah. Same apple cheeks, same baby blue eyes, same neck chub. We grew some pretty good looking babies, if I do say so myself.

What you went through, what you are still going through, I cannot even imagine. I don't want to imagine it. I think about what would happen if my daughter (who is also named Gwendolyn, but I assure you it's coincidence!) and my mind goes black.

Thank you for helping me to remember to hold my daughter close and always be grateful for her.

  13. I love seeing pictures of Elijah. He may just be the most beautiful baby I've ever seen (and I tend to think my own are pretty damn cute, so that's saying a lot).
