How Much Mercury Is The FDA's RDA?

Here's some FOOD for thought.
  1. How much mercury would you feed your child before you decided it was enough?
  2. How much mercury is safe for your child to consume?

The answers are,
  1. Zero.
  2. Zero.

Archer Daniels Midland, poisoners of your kitchen and body, have decided to challenge scientific facts and feed mercury to the general public, via High Fructose Corn Syrup.
And you thought it just created Diabetes!!

No, now you can poison the entire family with a lunchbox full of 'juice' and 'fruit' gummies. Toss in a little Jello and you've got a delicious buffet of brain cell and pancreas killers!

Why isn't anyone talking about this? Only Huffpo? Why isn't this being picked up by any other news sources? And why is Huffpo pretending that they don't know who makes the HFCS?

ADM makes it, that's who.

And the FDA - do not for a minute think that they are protecting you.
They know all about it.

I just learned about the mercury crap from another blog earlier today. I had the same question - why isn't this all over the media?

Have you seen that ad that's running now, where a guy makes fun of this date for being scared of HFCS? She's like, yeah, I guess I've been brainwashed by crazy vegans -- hand me that delicious HFCS popsicle! I'm going to LIVE again!

Ooh, I've never seen that ad.

HFCS is the devil. I avoid it as much as possible, but DAMN it's all over!

OH the FDA is sooo full of shit.

Did you know that people petitioned for approval of aspartame 3 times, and the FDA denied it, but the 4th time approved it? SORRY IT'S SAFE FOURTH TIME AROUND, LYKE TOTES.

HM wonder what favors were given..

A bullshit organization.

PLUS, there's no org to monitor cosmetics/lotions/etc, and Johnson & Johnsons's baby line turned out to contain toxins. THE BABY LINE.

a GOOD REASON to go all natural, man. Capitalism, and corporations.

OK, I HATE those pro-HFCS ads, and I object to HFCS for environmental reasons (overproduction of GMO corn with potentially less disease resistance, more need for chemical fertilizers, etc.), but I think this mercury scare is probably overblown. Check out Sandy's report at Junkfood Science for another view. Starting (but not ending) with: "The president of the Corn Refiners Association also told Reuters this morning that their industry hasn’t used mercury reagents mentioned in the study for years, leading her to question the information." I don't think we should unquestioningly accept what Sandy reports, I don't think we should unquestioningly accept what the prez of the CRA says, but I also don't think we should unquestioningly accept this study or reports on the study without thinking critically about the methodology and the reported results.

(BTW, I'm totally a fan of all-natural everything, I wash my hair with some all-natural mud mix, I use a crystal deoderant instead of the normal kind, etc, etc. Basically, I am the person you would expect to be totally AUGH HFCS HAS MERCURY! And I was sort of disappointed to discover that it probably wasn't true (only sort of, of course, because I don't want small children everywhere eating mercury...), because as far as I am concerned, anything that makes HFCS look bad is great!)
