He will never turn eight.

Tomorrow is Elijah's birthday.
He's not turning eight this year.

Tomorrow, Supergirl is also debuting as a flower in her school's production of 'The Wizard of Oz'. It's a big deal, if you didn't know. FYI, the flowers are the very ones who greet Dorothy when she arrives in Munchkinland.

And Bubbles?
He is doing just fine. He's working on distinguishing the differences between 'w', 'l' and 'r', and we are coming along nicely. He also loves music and has developed a recent interest in show tunes.

When I tell you that my son died (almost) 7 years ago, I expect you to understand, at this point, that this is just part of our family history. He's just like Supergirl and Bubbles. He lived in our family.
I am the mama of three.
I will also expect you, as a decent and selfless human being, to allow me to talk about THAT son and the things I miss about him.
Freely.
At any time.
Without offending or skeeving you out.
Seriously.
I am the mama of three.

At this point, it's not too much to ask.

Because I really, really, REALLY miss him.

Stupid computer ate my comment...

From another mama of three,

Happy birthday Elijah. I am so sorry you are not here with your family. Please send your mama some sunshine on this day. xxx

Hugs. :( I have stopped believing that these days must get easier with time. If anything, it seems harder. xx

Awww...sweet boy! I love it when you post Elijah pictures; I just want to gnaw on him.

I'm sorry his birthday is weighing on you, although I'd be surprised if it didn't. I'm here any time you want to talk. xox

I can't find my blog said...

Aaw, G, of course you're missing him. You can talk about him anytime. That's the right of a mama.

And I'll bet Supergirl is the best flower ever!

xoxo

Whenever you speak of your beautiful Elijah, the world becomes still and quiet for me. Just for while. But I reflect on you, your beautiful children and all you have accomplished and are accomplishing...because it's a lot G, a lot. You are a terrific mom to all of your children and he will always be one of your cherished children.

The photos of Elijah are so charming. I'm sorry you miss him so; of course you do.

I'm sure Supergirl nailed "flower." You'll post an update after her debut, right?

Elijah is such a beautiful baby!

My angel-daughter would have turned 8 weeks today. From my experience so far, I can tell you that you can do anything you want and need when it comes to your children, Elijah included! You set the rules, and you can stick to them or break them.

Sending you hugs and peaceful thoughts,
Alena
