It went something like this.....

Gwendomama: Don't ever ever EVER do that again! You can NOT just hide like that when we are out in public somewhere! I don't know if you are safe or in danger!
Supergirl: I know.
G: I know you know. Which is why I find it hard to believe I have to tell my FIVE year old AGAIN how DANGEROUS a situation can be!
S: Why?
G: Why? Why? Because the world is not fair, honey, and there are a lot of good people in it, but there are also a lot of really bad people in our world.
S: Why?
G: Why are they bad? Because they do bad things.
S: Like what?

Gwendomama: Really bad things, like some people steal things. That is wrong. But some people are really really bad - their brains don't work properly - and they do horrible things. They don't have respect for life, and they kill people.

Supergirl: Like our president?

Ha! She must hear Mommy talk about the president.

Love your mini cupcakes. Your cake recipe sounds like one I have, called Wacky Cake. This is the ingredient list:

1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon vinegar
5 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup cold water

I like it in case you run out of eggs and need to make a cake.

That reminds me of a story from our family. My parents were watching the 1980 Republican Convention with my (very verbal) 3 year-old sister. Ronald Reagan came on the screen and my sister asked who that man was. When she heard the answer, she forcefully said, "I do not like that man! He doesn't want women to be able to chose what they do with their bodies!" I'm glad to hear the next generation of politically aware kids is being raised! And being fed yummy cupcakes- very important for budding liberal children!

Hi. I was over at Scribbits blog and found yours...I came on over for a quick read and here it is an hour later. I stopped for about 5 minutes looking for some tissue..then I sat here for another 5 minutes thinking of something I could say to you because I was so moved by what you had to say but I didn't want to seem silly or have you thinking "who is this person??!" You had me alternating between laughter and tears. You are quite a woman..I just wanted you to know.
